She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Arizona State University. She then went on to complete her medical degree and physiology doctorate at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She completed her neurology residency and epilepsy fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
She has published numerous papers and given several presentations in the field of epilepsy research and care.
