Training for School Personnel: Live Webinars from the Epilepsy Foundation

Epilepsy News From: Monday, March 09, 2020

Children and youth with epilepsy need school nurses and other personnel to know about seizures and what to do if one happens in school. The Epilepsy Foundation offers training for all school personnel to understand the basics of seizures, epilepsy, and first aid. This training helps them provide appropriate support to all students.

Seizure Safe School Trainings

At least 5 states have passed Seizure Safe School legislation to ensure that school personnel have seizure training. The Epilepsy Foundation offers several training opportunities for school nurses and other personnel.

Live Webinars: Seizure Training for School Personnel

In addition to online and in-person training, the Epilepsy Foundation offers live webinars twice a month for school personnel. Upon finishing the program, including pre- and post-tests, participants will get a certificate of completion.

Check out the schedule below for the next two months. Click on the link for the webinar you are interested in to register and complete the pre-test before the webinar. School nurses in states that have mandated training may need to complete the program specific for school nurses.

Contact your state Department of Education or contact us at LMSHelp@efa.org for more information on training for school nurses.
