Stock Monday: Give smarter to save lives

Stock Monday highlights an alternate giving method this holiday season

Epilepsy News From:

Wednesday, November 24, 2021

November marks not only the beginning of the holiday season but the beginning of the giving season. Your end-of-year generosity helps to fund the Epilepsy Foundation’s research, education, advocacy, and programs to assist people with epilepsy and their families. Epilepsy receives 10 times less funding than any other brain disorder. Every dollar counts toward helping the 3.4 million people in the United States who face the challenges of living with epilepsy every day. This year, consider other ways to give back to the Epilepsy Foundation, such as Stock Monday on Nov. 29.

Stock Monday highlights a giving method that many people are utilizing to help make a difference in communities they care about, including the Epilepsy Foundation. If you have appreciated stock, you can make a big impact in the epilepsy community.

Why Donate Stocks to a Non-Profit?

Below are two reasons to consider making a stock donation this year:

  • A stock donation helps you save on taxes. When you donate your appreciated stock, you avoid paying the capital gains tax. If you itemize deductions, you can also take a charitable deduction for the entire donation amount.
  • It only takes a few minutes. Use a secure stock platform to make stock giving to a non-profit easier and faster than ever. After you provide some details about the assets you wish to transfer, you can either print and mail your forms, or donate entirely electronically.

Now is the perfect time to donate stocks so that your gift can be eligible for a 2021 tax return. The deadline to give is December 31, 2021.
