Advances in science and medicine over the last decade have led to a better understanding of the ways genetic factors contribute to epilepsy. Please join us for a Facebook Live on Wednesday, June 30 at 7 p.m. ET about "Genetics - Everything You Need to Know."

Elaine Wirrell M.D., co-editor-in-chief of epilepsy.com, will be asking our panel questions about:

  • What is a gene?
  • What does it mean when we say epilepsy has a genetic cause?
  • Is genetic and inherited the same thing?
  • Is it typically one gene or multiple genes that lead to epilepsy - polygenic vs monogenic?
  • Which persons with epilepsy should consider genetic testing?
  • If testing is needed, how is it done?
  • What should i know before undergoing genetic testing?
  • and many more!
