My Epilepsy Has Been Cured!

I use to have epilepsy and now it's been over 120 day without any seizures! This is because I recently had brain surgery as part of the SLATE study (https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02844465). I had a sclerosis in my left temporal lobe and the surgery used a basic laser procedure to remove the tissue with minimal impact. Since that time I have not had a seizure I have had epilepsy for 35 years that continued to get increase in severity. My seizures started as simple seizures and grew in severity to where I had complex seizures every 12 days. It is now awesome to live in a life without seizures! Curtis-

Wow sounds a bit like my story except I haven't had the surgery. It's been about 35 yr for me. I have tried to explain my symptoms to doctors but because EEG's were normal I wasn't taken seriously. I was diagnosed with idiopathic seizure disorder and only treated to prevent the grand mal. The Neurologist I have now has changed my diagnosis to cortical dysplasia. My seizures are getting worse as I get older. I have the partial seizures as well but was never able to describe my symptoms well enough. I might be a candidate for surgery but have to do the inpatient EEG to see if it will work for me. I can't imagine life without medication and seizures. It seems like an impossible dream. I am so happy for you!
