Aura feelings

Sun, 10/09/2016 - 11:37
I am trying to make the decision to seriously consider surgery. I am getting mixed signals. My auras are scary as hell. I read some say they feel like panic attacks. Mine feel like I freeze in time and space and I am going to die at that moment. It only last for a short period but it seems like forever. The sense of dread and doom is awful. I have also been known to just freeze in 1 spot physically and have to wait for it to pass. I am on vimpat, the side effects are getting worse. Has anyone had the surgery and been pleased with the outcome?

Before you decide you do need

Before you decide you do need to discuss your issue with your neurologist. You see they do have to have tests and MRI's in order to determine if surgry is even possiable. There may be other procedures that they can do to help you gain better control. You post a lot about your auras but you do not post how often you have them ot the type of seizures you have other then the auras. Which are basically seizures themselves. If no changes or adjustments have been made to your vimpat then that might be all that is needed. As for surgery and it working and people are pleased try looking at the forum for surgery and devices. You will see more and can read what has happened to many. You might see a device that can help there too.I hope this helpsJoe

Hello Phillips22.  I have had

Hello Phillips22.  I have had seizures for the last 30 years. I had Temporal Lobe resection this past February after they determined that the issue is in my left temporal lobe. I have been doing well since (I was back to work after three weeks post surgery) but as the others have said it is different for each person as to the results. I will most likely be on meds (VimPat 400mg/day, Keppra 3000mg/day and Fycompa 10mg/day) the rest of my life but hopefully without seizures.  I am not having any noticeable side effects from any of my meds.  I think my decision was the right one for me was the best as it gave me the freedom that I didn't have before. Good luck Paul
