Birth Control and Seizures

Thu, 10/30/2014 - 16:10

Hi,

For the men in here, sorry!!!!! I tried posting this in the Womens' forum, but I got no response, so I'm trying this too.

For those of us women on birth control, I was wondering which ones are the most useful and least harmful for seizures. I used to be on the pill, but they all gave me awful stomach cramps. I am now on the Ring, and it seems to be working OK, but I still get very dizzy and have "dream seizures" during my period and have also gained a little weight. I have heard that the Depo shot can actually help reduce seizures, so I'm curious if anyone has tried that.

What is everyone's opinion? FYI, I also have endometriosis as well as epilepsy, so I am on birth control mainly to regulate my cycle and make my cramps less debilitating.

Thanks!

I've the same problems as you

I've the same problems as you, endometriosis and seizures, and have not been able to use birth control because they interfered with my seizure meds.I recently was on a shot called Lupron that was for my endometriosis, ovarian cysts and had to stop using it because it started to trigger seizures, this was my second being on this shot and didn't have any problems the first time.  I did have my doctors get in contact with each other before starting any type of birth control to make sure it was safe.
