Funding for sugery
Tue, 12/16/2008 - 13:41Does anyone know of any grants of funding that can be used to help pay for surgery? I am a single mom with 2 boys. My neurologist thinks that surgery could really help me because medication has not been controlling my seizures.

it's depend on the surgery. i had the vns implant and the corp. that makes the device has a financial resourse page. other places to check are local/state aid organizations. some states allow assisstance in special situations that would otherwise be disqualified. check with the social worker at the hospital where the surgery would be done. ask the neuro for a referral to the social worker. some hospitals have assistance programs. you may also want to check major epilepsy sites, and neuro-surgical sites. for assistance. that is one thing i have been fortunate with. insurance and talking to the hospital has taken care of the surgery. i am on disability. i hope it helps. rikk.
