I just had the WADA Test, now I am for the next step.

Mon, 07/07/2008 - 21:08

Hi.

My name is Anna, and I  have had Complex-partial seziures for the last 3 years with no known cause.  I am a 26 year old woman who has been and continues to be in general good health. I had my first seizure (a grand mal w/ very severe convulsions) in August of 05 after I turned 24. Since then, I amon 3 different anti-convulsants (Lamictal 500mg, Phenytoin, 500mg, and Keppra 2000mg daily) as well as 1mg  of Folic Acid daily.  I have not had confulsions since November 2007, but i  continue to wake up once a month with my lip bitten and chewed right before my period. I have been on the list for possible surgery at my local hospital for a year,  and have just had the WADA Test on June 20, 2008. I saw my neurologist and his attending on July 3, 2008, and they are now trying to set up a date that they can have  a conference with him, the eptoligist, the neuropsychiatrists, and the neurosurgeon, to determine whether or not my surgey can be done. I would like to have the procedure done and would like to know if anybody has had the WADA done about how long and  what they were told when the doctor's and you or your loved oe made thier decisions. Any information wouls be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you Victoria. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you and what kind od surgery did you have? Mine will be done on my Left Temporal lobe if my doctors think it can be done.  Since I am so young (26) I was told that I am at a very high succsess rate. The neurosurgeon that will be performong the procedure has a 70% success rate and mine will be much higher because of my age and my good health. I have good faith in him, he is at West Virginia University Hospital and is the only person that does this procedutre in WV and therefore has had a lot of experience. Bless you and thank you for your comment.

Hello Anna,

We have talked a bit in the chat room I am POH, Pat I have had a number of monitoring sessions done. On this last one in Oct'08 and my case was presented to the team. They finally agree to proceed with the next test. I am being seen out of state in WI so I will have to stay there without leaving between the test. bc of where mine might be they are saying I may have to have more test as we go along to be sure of  the location. I know about the desion part you are going thru if you asked me two months or before I would have yes before you finished, for some reason it's more difficult(do't know why).please stay in touch. my test should start in Jan '09 if they can get all the dr and or lined up. the room I will be in does not have internet connection(sux) can I give you my cell number to stay in touch" if so contact me at long2fly@yahoo.com"  wish ya the best!
