Just got out of Surgery

Tue, 06/03/2008 - 19:22

Well, I just went in for surgery on the 30th. of May.  I remember coming out of it with my wife and family nearby.  I was really looking forward to the whole experience.  It has been somethiing that in educating myself and my wife, we readlly thought was the best option.  Naturally the right side of my head does hurt a bit.  The Vicoden is helping out a lot, almost as much as the Morphine helped out at the hospital lol.  If anybody has any questions, please feel free to contact me and ask.  So far I think the experience has been good over all.  I am looking forward to a great recovery and from a lot of what I've read from others on this forum, plan to see the same.

Have a great day or evening,

Ray

Wow. I go in for my mapping and surgery on July 28th (for the mapping), and then the removal of part of my temporal lobe on the 5th of August. I'm not sure if this is the same surgery as you had, but I'm really scared. I have only had seizures for about 2 1/2  years and they have been getting worse since then. I am on 400mils of Lamictal, 2,000 of Keppra, and 1,800 Trileptal. I am wondering how much you are/ were on. They say that I am a good candidate for success but I am worried about some of the side effects. They talked about short term memory and speech problems until the left side can compensate. Are you experiencing any side effects?

Thanks, Tony

New to epilepsy since 2/09/07.

I haven't noticed any bad side effects yet.  I'm feeling really good at this point too.  I am currently on 250mg Lamictal in the morning and 300mg in the evening, also on 1500mg Keppra twice daily.  I have had to deal with Epiepsy since I was first diagnosed with it back in February of 2007.  The procedure was to remove the right front temporal lobe with no major problems as of yet.  I will give you some more information in a little while, but my battery for my laptop is going dead right now.  I have a description from my surgeon of the procedure and will get it back to you as soon as I can.  Good luck, and be safe.
