Hello Shelly Maire, How did your surgery go? I am also planning on having an anterior temporal lobectomy with the removal of my amygdala and hippocampus in my left temporal lobe in August at Mayo clinic. How have things been for you? I am really wondering: have you noticed any changes in your short term memory? Verbal memory? Thanks much, and I hope you are having a speedy recovery! :) KR (Kristina)

Sorry I am so long in responding to you Kristina I have been busy trying to maintain with my physical therapy and all of the renovations that we have been doing to the house. LOL My short term memory at the current time is really bad but it is getting alot better as time progresses. My verbal memory has it days. When I push my luck and over due myself I can really tell because my speech gets really bad. I have been teased in my house because I have managed to create a few new words. LOL But all in all as long as I take my naps and only do what I am suppose to do I have been doing great. But I haven't realized how much it has decreased my time on what I can do LOL. Feel free to email me I try and check my email at least every other day. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and hope I am not to late in responding to you.

Left Temporal Lobetomy

Hi Shelly, I am interested in how you are doing now. I have been having seizures for several years. I am 33 years old, and been having them since i was about 10 or so. I had a concussion or head injury when i was about 19 months old, but the doctor says the epilepsy is not coming from the head injury. I am not sure if it is something that runs in the family or what. It does not appear to be.I have the complex type seizures and they could possible be getting worse as time goes on.. All of this appears to be coming from the left side. I would just like to know a little bit more on your condition now?  when your seizures started? what type you had?, etc.. I just have a big decision to make.. Thank you very much..
