Post Surgerical Experience

Mon, 08/21/2017 - 08:51
Hi everyone! I just wanted to share that I recently underwent a stereotactic laser ablation of the left mesial temporal lobe for left mesial temporal schlerosis (which sounds scary as can be but suprisingly I am doing really well). The surgery was remarkable, a very quick procedure. I'm happy to say the biggest issues I'm having are a small defecit in my vision that is very minor and I'm sure will pass as I get better & just some average post surgerical announces, most specifically comfort related. Prime issue is sleeping, I cannot sleep yet on that left side and my current pillow situation is horrible. Has anyone out there had a good experience with a specific pillow to ensure your getting enough rest? Right now I think it would be the biggest help to me. Any advice or previous experiences would be lovely! Thank you!!

I had neurosurgery twice in

I had neurosurgery twice in the temporalobe and can remember the deep pain I went threw.  I changed a number of pillows each one suited me at that time.  I was using firm, feather pillow and then I bought a large memory pillow online came from Australia.  What I notice is i sleep better on my surgery side and I carried the pain for years and years effecting my sleep and what helped was if lying on that side was putting weight on to the bottom half of the body.  I.e. Hip and knees leaving less pain on the top of the body then more pressure on my elbows then the rest of the top half of the body. What helped more was EFT emotional freedom technique for pain and took the whole pain away in seconds and it never returned.  YouTube EFT pain.  I did it long after surgery so for you would be too early to try.  Good luck
