surgery

Hello everyone,

I am in a pickle.  a couple of months ago I spent 2 weeks in the hospital to catch a seizure.  I was already scheduled for surgery but my doctor wanted to see one more because the onset is different than it used to be.  I had no seizures for those two weeks.  It has been 6 weeks since I got out and on Monday, I had about 7 seizures.  I told my doctor I would go to the hospital and get hooked up on the video eeg if I started having seizures, but I chickened out.  I kept thinking that this is the last one and if I go to the hospital they will stop.  I CAN'T STAND BEEING HOOKED UP TO THAT VIDEO EEG MACHINE!  Well, I didn't go to the hospital.  I had 7 seizures that day and now I am so confused at to whaat to do.  Please help me!!!

Diana

Hi Diana,

I am so sorry that you are going through this.  I can understand how you hate that darned machine!  I was hooked up for 10 days, and it nearly drove me crazy!  Have you talked to your doctor since Monday when you had the 7 seizures?  As hard as it is, my advice would be to go on to the hospital the next time, and let them hook you up.  The longer you put it off, the harder it is going to be to get you taken care of.

Please take care of yourself, and talk to your doctor.  My thoughts and prayers will be with you and I'm available to talk if you want to.

Blessings,
Barb

Diana, They can hook you up at home. Or they hook you up in the hospital and they can decrease your meds and lose sleep. Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/
