Surgery recover

Sun, 01/25/2015 - 15:05

Within the last month I've had 2 left temporal lobectomys, I've been home for one week today.   My medicines are the same plus a few new meds for post surgery.  I'm having several symptoms,  If anyone can offer knowledge, I have talked to the doctors twice this week and will tell what I've been told so far.

1. I've been unable to have bowel movements, until the dr told me to take Metamucil twice daily for the next 30 days.

2. I'm still having lots of pain and uncomfort from surgery, the only thing I am allowed to take for the Pain is Tylenol 3. I can only sleep 2 hours at a time and am staying exhausted, was told it would take up to 30 days to get my body back to normal that I can start taking melatonin to help sleep. How has everyone used melatonin?

4. Also the swelling and liquid retention is large , I have 20 pounds of liquid retention the entire left side of my head face and neck are full of liquid and swollen enough I can barely hear out of the ear.  Yet again the doctors told me it may take up to 30 days to heal.

I'm trying to deal with all side effects but it's got me worried as well, if anyone could tell me what they've experienced as well
