I have been just recently diagnosed with epilepsy. I have no idea how to cope. I don't even know what kind of seizures they are. I have had normal EEGs but the medicine so far has worked. I feel so embarrassed and frankly mortified. My mom follows me around like a crazy lady. I went from being a very independent thriving young woman to being a stay at home in my pajamas feeling like a bum. I also have joint pain and popping. Is that part of epilepsy? How do I go back to being "Normal". I must admit I'm all freaked out about this aura stuff.
I was scheduled to take the Wada test yesterday morning at 6:30 am. Oh my gosh. It was the MOST scariest and MOST painful test I have ever been through. When the catheter went up my leg, my entire body tensed up like a stick was placed up my behind. YIKES!!!! It hurt so badly. When the dye was inside my system and the doctors told me that I was going to feel some pain in my head, a tear ran down the side of my face. I can take a whole lot of pain but I cannot tolerate a headache. At that moment, I wanted to say, "Shoot me why don't you? I can't take it anymore.
Hi
I have had two normal EEGS but the doctor said that I have typical looking epileptic tonic-clonic seizures. So he gave me keppra and I haven't had a seizure on the medicine yet. Its been two weeks and I've only had one aura no seizure though. Can anyone explain to me what this means? So does this mean I am not have phychogenic seizures???

Hello community!
My SO and I have a monogamous and sexually active relatinoship. We both use the pills and condoms. We're aware that the meds can have a mitigating effect on the pill. How ineffective does it make it? We would like to have relations with alternative forms of contraception than a condom. We both love each other but want to understand the risks better. Thank you for any help!
My long term memory is going. I can't remember most of my childhood. (I'm 54). I don't remember my any of my 3 sister's weddings, (late 1970's - early '80's). Is this a sign of early demtia? I realize that dementia is short-term memory loss. I have had several concussions from my seizures over the years. I finally started wearing a helmet 5 years ago. Am I losing it? I've taken Dilantin since 1976, and tried almost every other AED. I'm still on Dilantin, but also take Lamictal, Clonazepam and Vimpat. Are these dangerous to my memory?
