Pre Admission Tests Before Surgery

Submitted by web-site-admin on Fri, 11/15/2013 - 14:54
I finally finished all of my pre- operative tests for Epilepsy surgery and my surgery is scheduled for December 13th. I just have one question... For those of you who have went through Epilepsy surgery I would like to know what types of tests are involved in the pre admission tests before the surgery begins? Any comments would really help me. Thank you.

Ok, so, I've just been diagnosed with epilepsy and have discovered SUDEP. Is it just me or is anyone else terrified about this, especially seeing as so little is known about it!

Cycling of simple and complex seizures in men

Submitted by web-site-admin on Thu, 11/14/2013 - 18:02
My son's seizures seem to have a cycling pattern and I was wondering if this is common with simple and complex seizures. Seems like about every 11-13 days he has anxiety and then he'll have his sp and cp seizures for three days, then they stop, and then in another 11-13 days the pattern repeats. Anyone else have that?

I've been having "small" seizures everyday since Monday night. My mood has been, well let's just say not the nicest either. Oh and headache after headache -__-

I guess the meds do help, I mean I haven't had a big one in 14 months so I'm pretty proud of that!!

Applying for social security disability benefits

I am unable to work due to my seizures. I am a person who has always worked and this is very hard for me. I never ask for help because I believe I can do it on my own, but it has gotten my breaking point. I am applying for SS disability benefits, but don't know how to express in words about my seizures. I guess one reason is because I don't like to complain and this makes me feel like I'm a complainer. Could someone please help me put into words how seizures are preventing me from holding down a full time job.

Newly diagnosed

Hi, I've just been diagnosed with absence seizures at age 28. I've been struggling with the diagnosis. To begin with I thought, hay it's just a name and it will get better with meds so it's a positive thing, but now for some reason I can't accept this. My meds don't seem to be working so far and all I keep thinking is why me, why do I have to have this, I don't want it. I find myself crying and depressed at the idea of having to take medication for the rest of my life and the fear of having seizures in front of people.

NOT SURE OF THINGS

Hello All,

As I always start out any discussion I find that I wish everyone well.   Right now I am during a big long struggle, and just don't know what to do.

Have had my epilepsy for 40 years.   Tough areas I have dealt with is how I don't feel like near family members don't care about my situation.    Looking for help.

Brother / sister: Never call, never ask.

Father / Mom:  My Mom just doesn't like hearing bad things so she never asks, and my Dad is just there to support her, so doesn't say much.
