Don't Give Up

I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 5th grade. The onset is still a mystery, but it was possibly from a head injury. However, that was never really confirmed. I mostly had absence seizures. It was a very hard experience, and I could not have done it without my mom. 

I remember trying out all the different types of medicines, which made me tired. I had double vision, especially when active. After a while, my seizures were mostly under control, but I still had the side effects of the medications. I played a lot of sports and would have to sit out when the double vision came on. 

My high school years were normal, and my seizures were under control. I was driving, playing sports, and traveling. There were a few times I would not get enough sleep and take care of myself. As a result, I had two tonic-clonic seizures. 

After high school, my life was great. I kept taking my medicine and was careful to get enough sleep. I have had a great life since then. I went to college, got married, and had children. I had a successful career and a normal life full of hopes and dreams. 

Don’t give up. Keep driving forward with patience, and rely on a good support network to make it through.
