Kids Crew

The Kids Crew program has undergone a transition in 2022 to best serve our community of parents and caregivers of children with epilepsy. About 470,000 American children under the age of 14 have epilepsy. It affects children at different ages and in different ways.

As we look ahead, our goal with the Kids Crew program is to keep you informed and updated with critical information related to kids and epilepsy, whether you are a parent, caregiver, friend, family member, or teacher of a child with epilepsy. As such, we will no longer be having kids register for the program and instead ask that all families sign-up for the Kids Crew newsletter. Check back here for more updates in the coming months!

The Epilepsy Foundation believes that kids can change the world. We created the Kids Crew to make sure you know that you are not alone and to show you how much we can do when we work together.

At the Kids Crew, you will:

  • Experience a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Learn about epilepsy and seizures.
  • Connect with other members.
  • Be able to participate no matter where you are or how much help you need.
  • See that you have the power to give back and improve your community.

We value your imagination and creativity. We know kids have unique gifts that can be used to improve the community and give back. Each of you has the power to make your own life better as well as the lives of others. We want to support you so you can build confidence and learn skills that will help you no matter where you go in life. We respect others, never judge one another, and believe every member is important. When we are open to accepting people, it helps us work together to accomplish amazing things. As a Kids Crew member, you will have the chance to be a part of something bigger that has impact all over the country and the world.

The program is free to join and is for kids ages 14 and under of all abilities. If you don't have epilepsy, we still want you to join. Often, siblings, friends, and relatives of those with epilepsy are the best advocates. We are looking for those who want to learn, spread awareness, and make a difference. And have fun, too!!

Kids Crew members will receive:

  • Monthly email with information and updates
  • Quarterly digital newsletter
  • Invitations to national virtual Kids Crew events (and local events where available)
  • Reminders to join activities that can be done anywhere

Throughout the year, watch for videos from Chair of the Kids Crew Leadership Council, Hailey Scheinman, about how you can create awareness, educate others in your community, and participate in events. She will be sharing epilepsy facts, interviewing some awesome people, highlighting experiences at events, answering questions, and more.

If you have any questions, please send us an email at Kids-Crew@efa.org.

If you would like to ask Hailey a question, please email it to us or mail us a letter to the address above. She will answer questions during future videos.
