2 questions: pills & a good gynecologist?

Tue, 05/08/2007 - 09:50
Hi, So, I've got two questions. For those of you on birth control and AEDs, what are you taking? How's it working? I'm about to change my meds for the first time in over 5 years - big upheaval- and I find out not from the doctor, but from the medication label! that my new med is going to interfere with my current birth control pill. Well, the spikes and dips in hormones around my period already cause me enough problems with seizures, so I'm wondering if anyone here has had any luck with a birth control pill that works as a decent stabilizer in the hormone department. I'm currently taking Ovcon. Also: Does anyone in the NYC area know of a good gynecologist who knows how to work with and around seizure medications? Or has anyone had any experience with some Dr. Schweizer? He's out of network for me and I'm wondering if its worth it to bite the bullet and go. Thanks! ann
