Ativan during menstrual cycle

Hi,
I have been having seizures sometimes before, during and/or end of my period. I had suggested to my Dr. that maybe I should take an ativan a few days prior to my cycle and a few times during the period. She thought that was a very smart thing to do because I take the Ativan for seizure clusters.
This is my first month doing this and I was wondering if anyone has tried that exact thing before. If so, how your period was affected. I just had my period but it only lasted 3.5 days, which is very unusual.
Has anyone tried this before?

Hello there. I have had Epilepsy for 28 years. I take Dilantin and most currently Ativan (about 10 months). I also have a VNS for 4 years(the 1st one at UCLA to get it!) I have several types of seizures none controlled but my meds help and I've been on many combos of meds over the years. My body is always doing something new when it comes to Epilepsy. For the last 3 months on my heaviest day of my cycle I always have a drop seizure. My cycle never use to effect me. So I came to this web-site to see if this happens to others. I learned it is common and called Catamenial Epliepsy. Does anyone have any info on this? I know absolutely nothing about it. My other seizures are from a long high fever I had as a child(scar tissue build-up). curious.....
