Seizures and Depro Provera

I have been having seizures since I was 18 years old. I have been on 8-9 medicines (from what I can remember) and none have stopped my seizures. My neurologist recently told me that there was as study done on the effects of seizures and depro provera. She said it may help reduce or eliminate my seizures along with my other medications. Has anyone tried depro provera for this reason? And if so, what did you think of it?

Yes, depro provera is the birth control monthly shot. I don't know what the difference is between that or the pill but i wouldn't recommend the pill at all. I was on it for a few months and it made me have a lot more seizures that I did before I was on it. My dr. said that the cause of that was either because my seizures are based around my hormones (and brith control is added hormones) or because it reduced the effectiveness of the meds I was already on. I had at least 2-4 more extra seizures a month while on the Pill.
I am still researching the studies that my dr. was talking about.

I went on depro provera a couple of years ago for a year but it didn't do me any good. I didn't take it to control my seizures, but to prevent pregnancy,but it interferred with my meds so much that I gave up on it after a year.
I was bleeding almost every day. It was horrible for me and my partner.
as for seizures though, there was no change.

I hear it can be for that too. But dont know anything about using it for that. It is made up of a synthetic progesterone and no estrogen. lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
