aging

Sat, 10/26/2013 - 18:02

I have had seizures since my late teens. They only occured once or twice a year and were always tonic/clonic. I am now 65 and for the last 2 years I have been having partials plus nocturnals quite often. They have been weekly or more. My neuologist is unsure if aging is a key factor in the changes I am having. Are any of you experiencing aging related changes? Do any of you have info on aging/epilepsy. The articles I find here don't give much info. Thanks

I think it’s possible that as we age our metabolism changes.  Could it be that your levels have changed?  Would an increase or decrease be in order?  Also, if you had switched to a generic medication in the past two years since you’ve experience these episodes or changed generic manufacturers, people sometimes find that they have breakthrough seizures.Strangely enough, sometimes medications just seem to lose their effectiveness over time and often one might need to seek an alternative medication.Karen
