Aura's but no seizure while taking Zonisamide 100mg

Mon, 10/29/2018 - 19:46
Hello, I recently had my 3rd full blown seizure and was hospitalized for a few days. The Dr prescribed me with Zonisamide or Zonegran and everything was fine for about 5 days until recently I had an aura but with no seizure following afterward. I'm unsure if it's related, but a few minutes before it happened I was in a bit of a light argument. If it helps I'm 19 Male. I'm a bit desperate and anything helps Thanks!! :-)

I see you have been researching. You also think when a person has an aura they will have a larger seizure. Well auras are warnings to some people that they may have a seizure and many do have them. But many people have no auras. An aura is a seizure itself. If the Dr. prescribes medication and you just started taking it then your medication hasn't built up in your system to the therapeutic levels that dosage is supposed to get to. Seizure medications are not like aspirin where once taken it is gone in a few hours. Therapeutic levels are built up so if you take a dose late or even forget one break through seizures can be stopped. It takes 3-4 weeks for the medication to build up in your body... a light argument should not cause a seizure. I know many of mine are not light and at times mine have gotten to the stage of almost fighting. Please take them as prescribed. If 2 times a day those times need to be close to 12 hours apart.Joe
