Could I have Simple Partial Seizures and could they be getting worse?

Mon, 10/13/2014 - 23:38

Hi,

I have what is described perfectly as Psychic Simple Partial Seizures for around a year now. Starts with a strong feeling of Deja Vu and an out of body feeling which last a few seconds, then a bad headache and nausea which lasts a while. Also during the time of the "spells" I don't know what happened or what I did or what someone else did. I've mentioned them and the doctor kinda overlooked it until I had one of these spells while on the job as a power lineman. So as of yet i've had a 20 minute EEG which showed abnormal spikes but not enough for the neurologist to technically diagnose me. He recommended a 24 hour ambulatory at home EEG with video which I've done and I am currently waiting on the results from that. The doctor now believes that the spells are epilepsy and went ahead and prescribed me Ethosuximide. I have to be Seizure/Spell free for 6 months before I can drive or return to my job. But that's enough background.

These started out happening around 1-2 a month until the last few months they have increased to 3-5 times a month. This past week I had 4, and two in one day.

If these are seizures is the frequency a determining factor in them becoming worse and possibly turning into Gran mal seizures? And how likely are they to be caught on the EEG if Simple Partial Seizures is the cause?

Thanks in advance for any help!
