What were your experiences with an EEG and diagnosis

Wed, 02/20/2019 - 21:09
Hello all! I’ve been having some odd issues so i went to a neurologist. Just had the EEG but have to wait a few weeks for results. I am wondering what you all experienced, and what the diagnosis was. The neurologist thinks i have dystonia but ordered the EEG because i might actually be having partial seizures and not dystonia. I have a DVA in my temporal lobe. They are no big deal, but can be associated with temoral lobe epilepsy. It’s a congenital malformation of normal veinous drainage to my understanding. Anyways, im getting the EEG and all good. I do the breathing, no issues. Then when they did the lights, i started tremoring (my head and my right hand only) and the muscles in my face started twitching and i got this intense urge to cry, but i wasnt scared, it was like a feeling of sadness. That only lasted maybe 10 seconds, then i was fine, not tremoring or twitching and i was just focusing on the lights and felt very relaxed. What the heck was that? I have severe light sensitivity (not to sun, just to LED lights and ive experienced that in other bright light situations). I have exotropia, and my eye doctor said i just have severe light sensitivity from the exotropia. Its manageable by wearing hats and sunglasses when i go in stores, or going to stores at offpeak hours when they dont keep their lights cranked up so high. So im kind of wondering, since i was a kid, maybe it wasn’t just the exotropia causing the light sensitivity issues but i was actually having partial seizures. I did have an out of body experience when i was 5. It felt like a suction in my stomach, like when u are on a roller coaster and get butterflies. It was very vivid. I felt that, then i was floating up at the ceiling, i saw the ceiling fans and looked down and saw the tops of peoples heads. It felt euphoric like i felt like i was given all the answers to the universe. Then i was sucked back in my body. It happened in church. I told my mom the angels sucked me out of my body. My mom didn’t make a big deal and i never told anybody because it sounds crazy. I used to smell smells that weren’t there either, but i could predict the future with them. Like the smells were associated with people and when I smelled the smell i would see the person the smell reminded me of within a few hours. I thought it was some spychic phenomena but again sounds nuts, so i never told anyone but now im wondering if this was all seizure activity. I wont know for a few weeks but curiousity is killing me lol. So i am wondering did any of you all experience any of this, and if so, what was your diagnosis? Is this just a normal reaction to have on an EEG as in facial muscle fasiculations and head tremor/jerking? And that weird sad feeling? Thanks!!!
