How does Bruce [grez-monkey] create those little icons?
Sun, 06/05/2005 - 00:29Well folks, have you ever wondered how am I getting these little icons on my postings and replies? Notice that in the section right about where you are typing your words, do you see the little scissors, two peices of paper, clip board icons, along with the drop down menus of font choices [Normal, Verdana, 2]? Point and click on Verdana, and change it to Wingdings...Then the number 2, to any other higher number, mostly 5, 6, or 7. Next you will need to play around with the keys on your keyboard. Everything for lower case and upper case letters, number, symbols, etc. Each one will put up a little icon. You can also change the color, make them Bold, in italics, or underlined. OR heck, even all three. For example:
The upper case/capital Cequals C[little thumbs up icon]; upper case/capital I equals I
Upper case/capital J equals J; Upper case/capital K equals K Change the color, boldness, italics, and underline it and you can make it look like this J
Here are all of the symbols you can create by using the Wingdings and I made them as big as they can be made:
Everything when you are NOT pressing the Shift key equals...

So Gretchen, what you're saying is that the various colors are triggering some 'willies' in your right leg, correct? If it is, then please let me know. I'll be glad to edit what I've done. Make some minor changes, even remove all of it, long as I have access to be still allowed to login.

Whenever you type the very first few words of your postings and replies...look right smack dab above it...and you should see from left to right the words Normal, Verdana and the number 2, each of which are what's called 'drop-down' menus......And to the right of all this you should see B I U. B stands for bold; I stands for italics; and Ustands for underlined. Then to the right of that, are three more choices that give you the options of puting whatever you type...
Far on the left side of the area...
...smack dab in the middle...
...or far over on the right side of the area.
If you want to do certain things to just one or more words, you place the mouse arrow over the words, hold down the left button and slide the mouse arrow over the exact words, etc you want to make the changes to. It will look like this when you do it... EXAMPLE
Again, if you prefer me to not do this, I will go back and edit everything and won't do it anymore in the future. Just let me know.

Hi Bruce -THANK YOU. I've been very jealous and I have tried to hide it with "I don't notice", "I don't care", "so what", none of which work! :) I have a question though. WHERE are all these things, like cute little scissors and such? On this site? On my tool bar thingy that is not part of this site but on Explorer? I wanna be creative TOO! (whine whine) Also I've noticed you and all have quit using moving icons and I can not THANK you enough. Also I've noted that you and others quit using neon colors but BRUCE YOU JUST BLEW IT AND YOU HAD SUCH A GOOD RECORD GOING TOO! You big silly (big smile). I got the willies in my right leg when I saw that blue in your post (YELP). That's all :) And thank you for sharing. That was ver nice to write ALL that out because I know your secret, you are one VERY slow typist all to say when ever someone gets a post from you? They should treasure it because it probably took your entire day - right? That IS NOT a criticism. It is an observation of admiration (did that make sense?) But? Regarding all those neat things you do and you truly outdid yourself on your T shirt and BTW - I'm waiting for more and I'm NOT a good waiter, please? GET IN GEAR - hehe. Oh well. Even if I still don't get it? Do not fret. Epilepsy is a syndrome composed of a complex of symptoms. That is a quote - I read and memorized it from EFA. One of my symptoms is the I-Don't-Get-It Symptom. I think it's a simple partial, or I fake it, maybe. Because? I often "don't get it". I fake it very well normally. I'm a gracious I don't get it-er.Gretchen
