Student nurse - vacant episodes

Thu, 11/09/2017 - 16:33
hi guys I am 33 and live in Wales. I have been experiencing vacant episodes for a few years now but recently they have become more frequent. I am getting them 15-20 times a day lasting 1-3 minutes. I don't know whether this is due to stress as I am writing my dissertation and currently in my last year of nursing school. Please can someone help or advise me. The only person who knows these happen to me is my son. No one else has realised they just think I am day dreaming. Thank you Guys.

So 15-20 times a day says it

So 15-20 times a day says it is something to check out. Can they be seizures? Well, it's highly probable that they are. That seeming fixed 1-3 minute time line makes it very probable. That said, as I always say to anyone, first consult a neurologist. If you can't get an appointment with a neurologist very soon I say visit the ER and request a neurologist. Tell him or her what's going on and he or she may request an EEG and an MRI. I am on the other side of the pond so I would have pushed for what they call a 72-hour outpatient EEG. But of course it would be easier for me because I already have a neurologist.Try not to guess too much my friend. Guessing is what can really interfere with how we deal with things. A regular EEG can miss things because they are so short. But a 72-hour EEG is more likely to capture activity.Either way, given this has happened more that twice, I think the neurologist may want to start you on a very low dose of medication. Let us know how it goes. We have all been there. So at this time your goal should be to see a neurologist.Best Regards
