Wed, 03/21/2018 - 08:05
Hello everyone. I hope someone can help me. I took trileptal for only two weeks for depression and i developed myoclonic jerks all over the body just before trying to fall asleep. I never had this jerks in my entire life. I stopped a week ago and they are still present!!!! Isso also tried valproate first 3 months and developed severe stomach pain and tremors in hands, had to stop also, but after a month, i still have tremors in my hands. Now i am left with tremors and myoclonic jerks, both i never had in my life. After a month with tremors i am scared that the jerks and tremors came to stay here indefenitly. I am now suffering badly in sleep cause jerks wont let me. I still cannot understand why the bad things that this medications do, stay here and the benefits go away? Is there any hope they go away. Did anyone experience this? Thank you

Please talk to the neurologist. The jerks may not be medicine related at all. A thorough look at this is needed...Hope it settles down soon!

Please discuss this issue

Please discuss this issue with your neurologist, myoclonic jerk could be myoclonic seizures. If it was induced by the trileptal then they would have stopped from one to two weeks after you took your last pill. Hand tremors and seizures too.this does need to be looked at and reviewed by a specialist who can get it straightened outHope it does get things settled down and you get seizure freeJoe

Thank you for response. I

Thank you for response. I never had seizures in my life. They only started after trileptal. On valproate in also had jerks but only on the legs. Prior to this medications i was also on mirtazapine wish had to quit cold turkey due to restless legs and also had jerks on withdrawal and during use. Polydrug might have induced. The hand tremors is lasting for one month now still not better. I guess hand tremors are not seizures and even then i still have them. Perhaps hand tremors also from trileptal? I did saw a neurologist wish simply said take clonazepam for that. I think that is ridículous. Clonazepam could cause rebound jerks.
