Can't Afford Insurance

Fri, 03/07/2008 - 10:40
Hey, I'm 19, in college, and married.  We have very low income, not even making $400 a month.  I was wondering if anyone knew of any forms of health insurance my husband and I would be applicable for.  I've heard from many people that there is insurance available for "poor" people, and I said I've looked, but I still can't find this insurance.  So please, does anyone know what this is?

My Neuro recently put me on Disability because I haven't been able to hold a job, and do not have medical insurance. I had a hearing with the welfare office this morning, and from what they told me, it's a hurry up and wait process and I shouldn't have any problems getting approved. I also intend to file bankruptcy because I do not have an income, and have no way of getting myself out of debt. They also told me state funded college could also be available to me so I may just take advantage of that as well. Talk to your Neuro and possibly a lawyer about it. The way things have been going for me for the past few years, I have to try something different, my last place of employment let me go because they said I was a hazard on the job, even though it was only a plastics assembly plant through a job agency, I was barely making minimum wage there too.

I can't even afford to go see a nuero, so I don't have one yet.  They want me to go to a sleep clinic and to a neuro, but I just can't do it in my financial situation right now.   Also, I don't know if my epilepsy is "major" enough for me to file disability.  It only happens when I go to sleep or wake up, and it involves my jaw moving only, while the rest of my body is frozen in place.  I'm concious, but unable to do anything when it happens.  I have auditory/visual hallucinations, feel my heart in a strange multiplied way, and sometimes my stomache will feel strange.  These all happen during the seizure, except for auditory hallucinations; they happen all the time randomly during the day and during my seizures.

You should have an 'assistance' office in your state.   Here you go: http://www.arkansas.gov/family_gov.php

Good luck & take care of yourself!
