chest pain and epilepsy....

Sat, 02/20/2010 - 23:06

A few days after my last increase of topamax i've started to have chest pain.

I went to the dr and they dismissed it as chest wall pain "costocondritis" and did nothing

i'm mad because i've had this feeling before when I was on too much dilantin. its painful. It feels like someone beat my sternum and it hurts to touch. my vitals are ok.. BP is lower.. pulse is a bit higher than i'm used to but still normal. It's 20beats faster for me though so it feels weird.

I don't know what to do..  could this be a problem?

I had a similar reaction to Trileptal years ago...and had the same 'ho hum' respnse from the ER docs because the EKG was normal. They didn't do an EEG, so I didn't know if the pain was epileptic or not. I stopped taking the Trileptal, with my neuro's approval. I haven't attempted any add-on drugs since. I stick to monotherapy only even though my absence seizures are not well controlled--I just don't drive or do much of anything without my husband anymore. Too many wierd reactions to the pharmaceudicals if taking more than one at a time...
