Insurance Questions - Please help!

Tue, 03/21/2006 - 19:52
Hi! I moved recently, and lost my health insurance from my previous company when I did. I didn't have enough money to continue using Cobra. I have tried to get health insurance from companies on the internet several times, but have been denied because of my epileptic condition. I am working at a compnay full-time but my health insurance doesn't kick in for another 2 months. And I am running out of my medication. Is there a health insurance provider more leiant to people with epilepsy? Or do I keep trying until I find one that works? This has been a really frustrating process.

Those seem to be for prescription insurance, and I need basic health insurance as well, and make too much money for Medicare. I don't have a regular doctor that I go to here either since I moved. Got any ideas??

Some states offer insurance to people with disabilities who are employed but can't afford health insurance on own.. as well as medicaid for people who are disabled and not employed. Contact the state department of medicaid which is usually under heath and human services to see what is available in the area. Another resource - financial assistance office at hospital where you may be receiving care and apply for financial assistance / free care. While free care rules are changing everywhere, they can give info on what to do and how to apply. For meds in the meantime, use the patient assistance programs - you can use the link here or go directly to Partnership for Prescription Assistance 1-888-4PPA-NOW www.pparx.org Please also check with local Epilepsy Foundation affiliate in the United States. Some states have special funds for emergency epilepsy medication or ways of accessing epilepsy care. Visit www.epilepsyfoundation.org to find affiliate close by. Hope some of this helps! Epi_help
