Long lasting dreaminess, anyone else experience?

Wed, 02/09/2005 - 18:28
Hi, I am new to this board and was diagnosed with epilepsy for the second time in my life about a year ago. I am 25 years old and took Dilantin from the time I was 3 until I was 10, and then my neurologist weined me too, convinced I had outgrown my nocturnal seizures. About 2 years ago I started feeling dizziness and occasional brain fogginess and went through some tests to get diagnosed with partial seizures. What is stange is that my symptoms have seemed to change over time. My dizziness is lessening, but the dreaminess I am feeling is lasting longer and is more frequent. Sometimes for what seems to be days at a time. My doctor told me that is very strange for me to be experiences that with epilepsy, but won't tell me what else it might be. I need to know if this is happening with anyone else. It is extremely scary, it feels like I am watching a movie, and not really living my own life. Sometimes I don't feel comfortable anywhere, not even at home. Everywhere seems unfamiliar. I tried Lamictal and that only made things worse. I am on Trileptal right now, but am waiting for results from my recent eeg, as I do not think the medication is working. Anyone with a similar story?

I always feel like I am not real. Like this is a dream, or a movie I am watching. I also don't feel comfortable anywhere, I usually pick a person ( usually from tv or the movies) and act like that character if I have to do things like go to the store, or deal with anything I don't like doing. I think it is because of stress. Really bad stress, like a stress disorder type of stress. Are you under any kind of stress, of course your sz, but anything else? could be the reason. I don't like to talk about not feeling real . It seems to disturb people when I tell them that. ? .......oh, and welcome to the board =) p.s. I take lamictal and clonazepam.
