7 months old starting on Phenobarbital

My daughter is 7 months old and we are starting her on Phenobarbital and I am scared. I dont want her sudated , I am afraid it will cause learning problums. She had her first seizure at 4 months but I know for a fact she was having them in utero. I kept telling the doctor that she was shaking in my belly but he kept telling me she was probly having hickups..Yeah right , Well it turn out she is having seizures and he gave me the meds today but I am scared to give it to her, she is so young. Has anyone began seizure meds this young?

Well my son is almost 4 months old and he had been on phenobarbital since he was 2 days old until 2 weeks ago. I was really scared at first to but amazingly it was the best thing he seizures stopped completley he may have had 3 since he went on it.But my son had a stroke while i was in labor and caused bleeding in his brain and thats what caused his epilepsy. But my experience with the phenobarb was a good one. I wish you all the best luck with your little one. And if you need someone to talk to you can talk to me anytime.

MY DAUGHTER HAILEY WAS BORN WITH EPILEPSY SHE HAD SEIZURES COMMING FROM THE WOMB AND ALSO A SMALL STROKE SHE WAS ON THIS MEDICATION UNTIL SHE WAS TWO YRS OLD AND SHE WASNT UNDER SEDATION YES A LITTLE TIRED BUT THATS ABOUT IT! NOW SHE IS 4 AND HAS BEEN SEIZURE FREE SINCE SHE WAS 10 MONTHS OLD SO JUST REMEMBER THEY CAN GROW OUT OF IT! AND TRY NOT TO WORRY SO BAD! THINK POSITIVE THATS WHAT I DID! I AM ALSO EPILIEPTIC AND HAVE BEEN SINCE I WAS 19. IF YOU WANT TO TALK ADD ME ON IM [email protected] ANYTIME!
