drug dosages

When problems start with AED's , break through seizures or increased seizure activity, normally the AED amounts are increased. Is it possible that the increase in seizure activity could be caused by too much of one drug in a body. Could the breakthrough seizures be controlled by decreasing instead of increasing or adding another drug? I wonder if even though you might have been controlled with one drug for an extended period and then have some problems, if this is might be a time to try decreasing before increasing your dosage? Is your body saying... I have had enough of this.

Hi Willsmom! As a matter of fact, I just spoke with my neuro about that in the last month. Tegretol is notorious for it. But before you make any dosage adjustments on your own; please see your doctor and have your serum levels checked!gsness

YES ! YES! YES! I have SPS and CPS and depecote gave me 9 grandmals in a row one time. Put me in the hospital for a week. Check with your neuro and let him or her know what is happening. Doses make a difference and also how many meds you are taking and whatever else you take too!  Did you know that some anticonvulsants mixed with a cold tablet will turn up a false possitive for amphetimines in your blood??? Had that happen when I was hospitalized for Bells Palsy-- It was a nightmare!!  Check with your DOC!!
