Epidiolex denied by insurance (I have adult TLE)

Tue, 06/18/2019 - 19:21
I have partial aware focal seizures, and I have not responded to all of the traditional AED drugs. I was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy in 2017 when I was 27 Anyways, my doctor prescribed Epidiolex. My insurance denied it and subsequently denied all of my appeals because I don't have LGS or DV. Is anyone else out there in my situation? I just want to try this medicine. But it costs $7500 for a 30 day supply if I were to pay out of pocket. The "over the counter" CBD seems to help... But scares me because it is unregulated and the dosing is drastically different for recreational use recommendations versus the dosing guidelines of Epidiolex.

I know a couple people people on it who get major assistance from the manufacturer. Sadly it hasn’t been very effective in either.
