Grandaughter (18 mos old) on Keppra

Sun, 02/05/2006 - 11:24
My precious little Hailey was diagnosed with epilepsy about 3 mos ago. About a month ago, after three seizures (gran mal)in one day and a 3-day hospital stay with 40 hr EEG, CT and MRI she was put on oral Keppra. Everything I read about Keppra says 4 yrs and up. The side effects aren't very pleasant. She's just not the alert, bright, happy baby she was before the meds. She's clumsy, falls and bumps into things, instead of looking around as she walks and being interested she seems to be focused on the floor all the time. She's tired and crabby much of the time. She's also been throwing up a lot. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this medication in someone this young before. In a chat room yesterday Jim suggested keeping a journal which I think is an excellent idea and making sure the dr is kept informed, but I would still like feedback from anyone with knowledge on this drug.
