Lamictal and aspirin

Thu, 01/26/2006 - 08:54
Hi, I'm new to the site but have gained a wealth of information in the few weeks that I have been reading the forums and I thank you all for that. I am fairly sure that I read in one thread that aspirin actually helps enhance and sustain lamictal levels but I have read every thread with 'lamictal' in the title and I can't find the post regarding this. Can anyone help/confirm that this is true ? I know that paracetamol can actually decrease the seizure threshold of lamictal but was interested to find out if aspirin does actually work the opposite way. From memory, I think the post was regarding the cost of lamictal. Thanks heaps Jo Sedz [email protected]

Hi Jo, I looked over the prescriber info that came with my lamictal, and I don't see anything related to interactions with asprin or any other NSAID (such as ibuprofin/Advil). I have heard we ought to stay away from acetaminophen/Tylenol- I believe because of the strain it and lamictal place on the liver. Your pharmacist should know for certain. Keep smilin'- cc

CC, Thanks so much for your reply. I'm sure I saw it mentioned on a post in here somewhere.I've not been able to find a reference to it anywhere else on the net. I have checked with my Pharmacist but he hasn't heard of it. I seem to remember that a couple of people actually said within the post that they had been unaware that aspirin made a difference and thanked the poster for the info. I'll keep looking. Thanks heaps anyway Jo
