New Meds (Carbatrol)

Thu, 01/06/2005 - 17:45

Does anyone take Carbatrol?  That's what i was switched to from Tegretol (carbamezepine).  I just started it today, and so far i feel fine.  Any info you guys could give me would be great, like symptoms, side effects, what to look out for, and such.  I would greatly appreciate it.

Late,

Ash

hi ash,

actually I take carbatrol and it is simply the generic brand of tegretol.  The two are one in the same but carbatrol is cheaper because it's generic.  They look different but they are actually the same.

my doctor said something about it being extended release, and yes, they look very different.  One thing, i thought that the carbamezepine was the generic brand of tegretol, or are there two generic brands?  ALso, the side effects are not the same, the only thing in common is dizziness and sedation.  i don't see all of the other side effects listed like for the tegretol.
