Struggling with School on Keppra

Wed, 04/04/2018 - 23:13
I'm currently a senior in college and had my first seizure in January. I've been taking 500mg Keppra twice daily and can barely deal with school. I haven't been going to class because I've been tired all the time. I've been experiencing a lot of mood swings and noticeable memory loss. I feel like I can barely stay afloat. My parents are worried about me but I keep telling them I'm fine when I know it's not the case (for their sake). I feel like I can't talk to my parents about this because of my status in school and the fact that I can't express how much it's changed me even though they've noticed the effects. The only thing that motivates me to do anything is other people depending on me (group projects, family events, etc). I recently got approved to reduce my dosage to 250mg in the morning and 500mg at night to try and counter this. Is there anyone that has experienced something similar to provide some help or words of encouragement? I want to get through this without having to involve my family and friends because I can see how much the side effects on me are affecting them. I'd greatly appreciate anything anyone has to offer.

Just me now, my mood swings did get better took a little time but they did. The memory I have to write stuff down a few times to help me remember. When with a big group of people I have to talk slowly or I get my words backwards. Wish you the best of luck !!!

Thanks guys, that's a huge relief knowing that others had similar issues and learned to work around or counter the side effects. Thanks again for your words on comfort.
