Topamax - make anyone's heart pound?

Hi everyone, I have a quick question if anyone can help me out here, I would really appreciate it. But has anyone who is on topamax or who has been on topamax experienced side effects to do with their heart? I am asking because since I increased the dosage of topamax a few weeks ago to now 200mg per day, I sometimes experience pounding in my chest. And even though my heart rate itself is very good normally (62 BPM), every so often I get a pounding vibration from the heart. Now I should mention, I have been a bit stressed out lately too which I know can cause this to happen. So how do I know if it's the topamax or stress. Obviouisly when I am very stressed out this will happen, but sometimes this happens when I am not thinking of anything stressful at the time. And this has all started when I increased the dosage from 150mg to 200mg. And 200mg isn't that high either. Iam also on 1200mg of Tegretol Retard and 3000mg Keppra per day if that helps. Can anyone give me any feed back on this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks Quirky

Hi Quirky, I am on Topomax as well, have been taking 350 mg for about 5 years and am just starting to experience this "heart pounding" you are describing. It usually happens in the evenings when I have settled down from a stressful day. It has been going on for about 9 months now and I was going to talk to my doctor about it. Mine can go on for quite awhile and gets quite bothersome. I know how you feel, I can't help but I can let you know that i get the same thing. If I find out anything I will let you know.

Hi Prairielilly, thanks for your response, very much appreciated. I thought I was going barney when nobody was answering my thread thinking was this happening only to me? Is it because of somehing else other than topamax? Well, thank god you came back to me. I'm not alone so. Please do come back to me if you do find anything. That would be very much appreciated. I've been searching on the net myself but so far have found nothing. Thanks Quirky
