I was on Topamax 100 mg twice a day and began having these feelings like my body was becoming distorted. It wasn't the room that was changing, but my body was. It was always when my eyes were closed and I was beginning to fall asleep, but even if I opened my eyes, I would still feel that feeling.
Examples...I would feel that the side of my face was protruding outward in gross proportions as I laid that side of my face on the pillow. Or I would feel that my tongue was swelling up inside my mouth so that I was beginning to suffocate. Or my head was swelling up like a balloon and floating up over my body. Very weird feelings...
I told this to my neurologist and he suggested that I decrease the amount of Topamax I was on. He reduced me to 75 mg twice a day and later to 50 mg twice a day. I have only gotten the "feelings" about two or three times since and this has been since Dec. 1st, but he believes that it occurred because of the Topamax level being too high.
I am supposed to be switched to a different med soon and off of Topamax and am hoping that these weird feelings will go away!
Good luck to your husband...Theresa

Hi,I also take Topamax. I haven't experienced that feeling but I am on a very low dose (100 mg). My prev Neuro swore my seizures were just migraines. Last night I had 3 seizures. Had to be rushed to Emergency Room. Doctor there Upped my Meds. We'll see what kind of side effects I get. I already have memory loss and lose words and have lost weight.Dayna
