Combination of Zarontin, Lamictal, and keto for a 12 year old with Absence Epilepsy

Tue, 04/17/2018 - 19:16
My daughter has Absence Epilepsy. She has failed 3 drugs and it has just been recommended that she combine Lamictal and Zarontin along with starting the keto diet. We are 2 1/2 years into treatment with no success yet. She varies from 3-10 seizures a day. Does anyone have experience with this this combination? Positive and or negative results? Feeling very overwhelmed but determined to do what ever is necessary to help her.

keto could reduce the amount of meds required to get control, so that’s a viable approach in many uncontrolled cases. are both drugs ones she failed separately or is the lamotrigine new? lamotrigine is used for absence but isn’t a first choice for mono-therapy. my child has atypical absence with other seizure types so never tried zarontin.

There is no single cure, and there are no easy cures for different epilepsies and anyone selling such is a con man or very clueless.
