projectile vomiting with aware seizures in 6 year old boy currently being assessed for epilepsy

Mon, 03/18/2019 - 02:13
My nonverbal autistic 6 year old son had shuddering spells since about a year ago, and this past November they became frequent and accompanied by weekly projectile vomiting, jerking and stiffening (including every single morning about 10 minutes after he wakes up), more severe sleep disturbance, aggressive screaming fits in which he seemed to be in great pain and rubs his eyes and has a stuffy nose til the screaming is over, and whimpering. A recent EEG showed sleep seizure activity, but he hasn't had an MRI yet and he hasn't yet seen the ped neurologist. His pediatrician and his GI think the vomiting is caused by the seizures. It's very forceful and projects up to 10 feet. He acts completely fine just before and after. We've been told so far his presentation on EEG and with overall symptoms is rare and that we'll need more info to diagnose and treat it. He never loses consciousness as far as I know. Is this symptom picture familiar to anyone? I'd love any tips on what to bring up with the neurologist we see in 2 weeks.
