My sister mentioed on the phone today and asked if Alex has had a cat scan yet. They avoided it due to the radiation I think.Anyway should I mention it to the Dr. and ask if he should have one?He started a new thing today.14 months old so he doesn't say much, but he is almost imagining stuff being in front of him he tries to grab it and throw it or reach for it...but there is nothing there.and you can tell that he really thinks there is?Anyhow is this normal with epilepsy?Could it be a tumor or growth or am I just listening to my think she knows it all sis? Help! -Beth

I have read that some people have visual hallucinations as an aura, as they are starting to have a seizure. My 8 y.o daughter was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago. She had an abnormal EEG, and is scheduled for an MRI in 2 weeks. I am having all the same questions you are. However, the doctor told us that he was optimistic that it was not a tumor. My daughter has probably had seizures since she was about 1 1/2 years old. They were just smaller, and were easily passed off as something else. That was the age that I started questioning things. As she got older, she was tested by a school psychologist and speech therapist, and we also had her tested privately. No one could pin point what was going on, so they diagnosed her with ADD- inattention type. I never felt that it was that. My gut was telling me it was something else. Well, now I know what it is. She was having small seizures, when everyone else thought she was just daydreaming, or not paying attention. Her seizures have gotten much bigger now, and you definately know what it is. I have read that it is common, if it goes a long time without being diagnosed and medication, that it get worse. I think that is where we are with my daughter. Be glad that it has been caught early. Even though I know it is probably something you don't want for your child. Maybe since it was caught early, it can be controlled soon. Lori
