Toddler seizure: Scared. I’m epileptic.

Tue, 06/05/2018 - 06:29
Hi everyone. This weekend my three year old son had what could only be seen as a seizure in my eyes. He had just fallen asleep when I heard crying in the monitor and a coughing/gurgling noise. I went in to check on him and his teeth were clamped shut, face was hardened, arms were jerking upwards, and his legs were stiff and out straight. After 3 minutes he cried and wouldn’t come to or recognize me, then completely passed out on his pillow. We took him to the ER. No signs of fever or infection or low/high blood sugar. I was terrified. I am epileptic (jme) diagnosed at 14, as is my mother and cousins and both grandfathers. But no one has ever experienced them this young. I made an appointment to see a pediatric neurologist. I feel so guilty. Like this is my fault. Sometimes when he is on his iPad, his hands will jerk but I thought he was just excited. Now I’m wondering if it’s myoclonus. I know I need to wait for the doctors, but I’m paralyzed with fear and guilt and anxiety. I still haven’t fully controlled my seizures. Help?
