36 Yr old Mom of 2

Hi ladies! I'm new to this, I stated my story in the main chat but thought this may be a better fit so here goes... I have suffered from severe migraines and blackouts since I was 14 years old. September 2014 I went through a very drastic and emotionally draining life change and almost immediately following while at my part time evening job at the time I had my very first grand mal seizure. I was scared to death. From November 2014 - March 2015 I suffered from 45 seizures. I was forced to leave my full-time job, quit school, and stop driving. All of the independence that I had known since the age of 15 I lost almost immediately at the blink of an eye at the age of 33. In April 2015 I was officially diagnosed with Epilepsy, that year I worked sporadically at my part-time job when I could, as they really did work with me. Emotionally I started to become very drained. In early 2016 I was forced to let go of my job completely. I have been on several different medications with no real avail. June 2016 I got the VNS implant, and still today, Not only has my quality of life declined tremendously the past 4 years, I have extreme anxiety now, I suffer with depression, I tend to isolate myself because of my seizures and I still deal with seizures on a weekly basis. I primarily have tonic clonic seizures, since having the VNS implant i will say my seizures are lessened by time and severity. I currently take Keppra 500mg 2x a day, Briviact 60mg, Topamax 200mg 2x a day, and Aptiom 600mg. I'm just hoping to find a community of others that can relate to where I am because I often feel very alone. Being a mother of 2 im not just dealing but my children as well. I've just gotten accepted into Indiana University School of Education so I'm hoping by next summer I'll have some kind of control to be able to at least go back to college to get my teaching degree!

Hi, I'm Lorraine and I also have epilepsy. There are a lot of things we have in common. I don't have any children but I want to write a book that focuses solely on all types of women with epilepsy. As a mother I would love to include your story. If you want to talk more please feel free to email me at lorraine.malek27@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
