Epilepsy, estrogen & emotions

Thu, 02/02/2006 - 15:00
I have been noticing that everytime I have PMS [usually 2 wks before my period] I get EXTREMELY moody, even suicidal!!! Along with increased activity in my brain because of the estrogen, I am afraid of these feelings/emotions because I have no insurance, and can't just go ask the doctor. Someone told me that if I get on birth control, the emotional aspect will even out. However, being without insurance, and the amount of trial & error it takes to find just the right amount of estrogen in the pills, I can't afford any of this, really. Can anyone recommend a birth control that has worked for them???? Thanks. ~Monet

Monet, I was in the same boat as you with the mood and hot flashes and I could not take it. I went to a compound pharmacist and got a natural progesterone cream. It worked out great and even things out. My insurance does not pay for it. If your progesterone get too low it can cause seizure. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

I hate to sound stupid, but I'm out of the medical loop. What is a "compound pharmacist" ?
