Fri, 11/03/2006 - 22:12
Hi, I am 23 and started having them when I was 16. When i first started having them I only had like 3 or 4 in the first four yrs, but in the last 2 yrs i am having atleast 1 a mnth, i only have the grand mal, the only thing is when i dont have one i have about 3 of them in one day. I keep telling myself that i dont want kids because for one i dont want to give this to them i dont even know if i can, and my dr said that i would have to go off all my meds and i dont want to, because i dont want to have more of them. is it a thing to have kids? i only have them within the first 45 min that i get up, but the only thing is that i dont know when i am going to have one so i dont know when to stay in bed or not, and i have tried to just stay in but when i do have one, i dont know what i am doing so i get up and do things. If amyone could help me. Thanks Jennie

Hi Jennie. It sounds like the seizures are hormonal like mine. I had mine every month during ovulation for about a week. Morning hours were bad at times because coming out of sleep is the time they liked to happen, the body has a difficult time with that as an epileptic and then seizures are more apt to occur. Being hormonal, i've had them since I was 20. My first pregnancy triggered the cyst at that age and "turned it on" so the seizures began and then occured during ovulation every month. I'm 31 now and just had Brain surgery a month ago. The doctors removed the cyst that was in my head (left temporal lobe) after performing tests for over a year to make sure it was going to be safe. After surgery, i'm feeling good and I haven't had any seizures this past month in Oct. :) I still have to take meds for 11 months and then the doc is taking me off of them. 1 year total and i'm off the meds. Hopefully things go well and the months pass with no more seizures. Keep records of when you have them, what you're doing at the time and see if you can tell what relates them and what is causing them. It might be hormonal. As a woman, it could be many things. Keep track of what your body goes through at the same time. Things can be related. If you want to talk, just let me know. Good luck....Kelly
