Periods and Lyrica

Tue, 10/10/2006 - 15:44
I just started taking the drug Lyrica in April. Since then I have not had a period. Is this normal when on this pill? I take Birth Control, Tegretol, and Lyrica. After I started taking the Lyrica, my period was non exsistent even with the Birth Control. Should I be worried, or is this a common side effect? In some ways I think of it as a good sign, because my seizures usually came around the time of my period and now I am not having the normal seizures. But in other way I see it as a bad sign, because I am sexually active. I see my Dr. in November and I am going to talk to him about this side effect, but was curious if anyone else has had this problem with their medications. Zoe

Zoe, You know this is hard for me to truely say. For I am going through perimenapause right now. SO maybe I am not a good one to answer this. But are you in peri-menapause at all? I have been on Lyrica for one year now. I noticed while taking this med I skipped three or four times my period. Now I just assumed because I was entering menapause! Now maybe I am not approaching it yet. I just assumed for I skipped a few times??? hmmm I will be going off Lyrica sometime next year. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group?epilepsyapproach/

I have no clue if I am Peri-menapause at all. I am 27 years old. My period is trying to come after being gone for 5 months. So I hope that is good news that my body system will be getting back to somewhat of a normal Schedule. Thanks for replying. Leah

Well most likely it is not peri-Menapause because of your age. But it is possible it is because of the med take care lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
