I am trying to find information for a friend that is new to epilepsy. She was interested in knowing if there are any types of retreats where she can find out more about her condition, talk to others, etc. Also, if anyone has come across any new books on the condition. Thank you for your help.

Hello and welcome. I am almost through reading a book entitled "Living Well with Epilepsy and Other Seizure Disorders: An Expert Explains What You Really Need to Know" by Dr. Carl W. Bazil, M.D., Ph.D. and it is very informative as well as easy to read. I also purchased a book "Epilepsy: Patient and Family Guide" by Dr. by Orrin Devinsky, M.D., but I haven't started on that one yet. Both Doctors have amazing credentials to their names, and that's how I picked these 2 out of thousands. They were also both listed on the Epilepsy.com homepage, so I figured they would be very appropriate. I'm not sure about any retreats (and would depend where she lives, also) but I can tell you that my neurologist gives seminars on Epilepsy, treatments, and natural alternatives (if her E can be treated safely without meds). Hope this helps a little, Susan
